We’re going LIVE for the Restoration Rundown with Nick D’Urbano (CRO, Porter) Next Friday. Don’t Miss it!

The phone rang. The job walked.

Do you know why? 📞

On this week’s Restoration Rundown, Nick breaks down how it works, why improving conversion beats chasing more leads, and why the goal is to make your people better, not replace them.

Ben: You know, as a business owner, you can do everything right when it comes to marketing. Your website’s converting well. Reviews are stacking up like crazy, which by the way, very important. The phone’s ringing off the hook, but your jobs are still walking because of what happened in the conversation. And this also goes for in-person things, too.

Now, most owners have zero idea what actually gets said on some of the sales calls or in-person sales meetings and in their in-home estimates. They find out after the job’s already gone, and by then, there’s really nothing left to coach.

Our next guest, friend of the show—he’s been on a handful of times—has spent his career helping companies grow, and he’s back to join us today with something built to fix exactly that. If you caught the last couple episodes, you already know him. D’Urbano, welcome back to the Restoration Rundown.

Nick, I just saw you last week somewhere.

Nick: I know. I know. We keep seeing each other. I see you more than I see my wife at this point. It’s not a good thing.

Ben: There’s a good chance that neither of our wives listen to any of these things.

Nick: I know. I know.

Ben: We get these face-to-face. I just saw you at the one conference, man. It was great to catch up with you, and when we were out there, things were a little different for you, right? We spoke, you got another iron in the fire right now, and it sounded super exciting. So, we wanted to kind of rush and get you back on and talk because I think it’s a very important tool.

It’s a very powerful tool, and I think it’s something that, from the marketing agency perspective, you know, all we can do is all we can do, right? And if they’re losing the sale after the sales, they don’t know why, what’s going on. That’s a big deal. And typically, we’re the ones that get the axe when it’s nothing to do with the marketing. So, tell me a little bit about what’s going on with the new venture that you have happening here.

Nick: Yeah, so we actually—so, folks might know us from Distance, which is our AI recording and after-hours solution, but we made our first acquisition in 2026, and I’m now leading this new project which is called Porter. And you kind of nailed it on the head, Ben, which is like most folks have like zero visibility into what’s being said. And when you think about, “How do I coach my team? How do I build an all-star team? Take my A-players, unlock their full potential. Take my B-players, turn them into A.” You can’t do that if you don’t see what’s actually happening on the field. Don’t have the game tape, you know.
