Most people in Restoration have one story about how they got into the industry.

This week’s guest on the Restoration Rundown has three careers behind him before this one.

Ten years as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army, including a stint guarding President Clinton during a US-Russia summit. Five years as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Colorado. Fourteen years running logistics for one of the largest produce shippers in the country.

Jason Floyd found Restoration five years ago, and today he leads the commercial division at FP Property Restoration. We talked about the hardest lesson this industry taught him that none of his other careers could, why speed beats almost everything else in restoration, and two real problems he sees in the industry today.

Ben: What’s happening, everybody? Thank you for tuning in to the Restoration Rundown. Now, most people in restoration have a single story about how they got into the industry. But today’s guest has three careers behind him before this one: 10 years as a military policeman in the U.S. Army, five of those at West Point, five in Germany. He was Soldier of the Quarter six times, Soldier of the Year for all of United States Army Europe. He was even selected as the presidential guard and escort for President Bill Clinton.

After the Army, five years as a sheriff’s deputy in Colorado, then 14 years as a logistics manager for one of the largest produce shippers in the country. Then, just a short five years ago, he found this wonderful industry called restoration. Now today, he is the general manager of FP Property Restoration Southwest Florida Operations, a company that started, in his own words, with an idea and a truck, and has now grown into six locations across the state of Florida.

Let’s go ahead and bring him on in. Jason Floyd, welcome to the Restoration Rundown. What’s up, man? How’s everything going down in Fort Myers?

Jason: Hey, how’s everything going? Yeah, it’s going great. I tell you, you know, with the challenging industry that we’re faced with today, we feel very fortunate and blessed with all the opportunities that we’ve had. So, things are going great.17181920
