Google maps was temporarily down earlier today due to a bug. What if you strictly relied on Google Maps to drive leads?
Things would get ugly fast. This is why we always preach the “Omnichannel” approach and you should never put all your eggs in 1 basket. You have to cover all the bases from LSA (Local Service Ads), Google Ads search text ads, Google Business Profile, SEO, social, email, etc.
Hey, what’s up everybody. Welcome to the Ironclad Marketing Minute. We’ve got a little bit of an emergency episode here because as of 4 AM on Valentine’s day, Google maps has been down. It is now about 10 AM eastern time. And since about 4 AM Google Maps has had a bug where you cannot search any local businesses. It will not populate any results.
Now I’m sure Google is very diligently working through to get this bug cleared up. And I assume that it’s going to be cleared up anytime, but. For those of you out there who rely on your google business profile solely to get leads into your business with 24 7 emergency service, this is going to put you in a little bit of a jam Which is why I want to take the time today to talk to you more about Being omnipresent or taking an omni channel approach.
Now Google Business is one of the best channels out there to get visibility for your restoration business because you’re a home service industry and it is tied directly into the maps rankings. But what do you do when Google Maps goes down? What do you do when there’s an algorithm bug with your pay per click campaigns?
Well, you need to be able to rely on multiple channels to make sure that your leads just don’t dry up when one of those services go down and they do go down quite frequently. In fact, Google has so many bugs that they don’t tell us about. You really just find out months. Later after they come up with a fix, meaning you can lose organic rankings.
You can lose visibility on page one. All of your pay per click campaigns can go away. And like today, Google maps can go down where people cannot search your business when they need you. So ensuring that you have a strong footprint with your SEO and your organic search, ensuring you’re running LSA, pay per click, ensuring that you’re active on social media, and ensuring that you’re continuing to do the things and taking an omni channel approach that you need to maintain your visibility online for your restoration business is crucial.
Remember, don’t put all your eggs into one basket. Make sure that you are becoming omnipresent by exploring every digital channel that you can. If you need any help with your Google business profile, with your SEO, with your pay per click or LSA, or even your website design when it comes to conversions.
