Not too long ago companies would have tons of domains, especially “Exact Match Domains” just for one company and would get strong 1st page rankings on Google. The problem with that is most of those sites barely had any quality content, if any. Google is all about user experience and they stopped rewarding any website with top rankings unless they were bringing value to the table. The takeaway from this is you are much better off focusing on 1 brand and 1 domain, building as much authority as you can with valuable content from blogs, resources, FAQ’s, etc. vs 1 brand and 100 domains.

A common problem we’re still coming across when it comes to restoration contractors‘ websites is somehow some way they’ve been talked into owning multiple domains for the same brand. And if you know anything about branding, you can very easily dilute a brand. People wanna trust a brand. They want to trust the name of a company, something that they can stand behind. By owning multiple domains, although well-intended, you are actually diluting your brand and a lot of guys, when we ask them why they did that, they figured, “Hey, one domain was doing good. We might as well buy a few more.” That’s not the case.

We wanna build authority to a single domain, to a single brand so Google recognizes it, so your customer base recognizes it, and you end up gaining more authority on search engines by running all your SEO through the single brand. Now that doesn’t count city landing pages and things that exist within your original domain. I’m talking about guys that are buying multiple domains for the same business. So take a look at what you got going on and make sure that you’re driving the right authority and you’re not diluting your brand.
